{"id":1510,"date":"2023-01-17T16:53:33","date_gmt":"2023-01-17T15:53:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/skinconsult.com\/?p=1510"},"modified":"2023-11-20T13:46:44","modified_gmt":"2023-11-20T12:46:44","slug":"legislative-change-fragrances-cosmetics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/skinconsult.com\/en\/blog\/legislative-change-fragrances-cosmetics\/","title":{"rendered":"Legislative change European Commission: Fragrance allergens in cosmetics"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Fragrances and allergens in cosmetics<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Fragrances are added to, among other things, cosmetic products to give them a pleasant smell.<\/p>\n<p>However, these fragrances may contain allergens that can cause skin irritation or an allergic reaction.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s important for consumers to be able to check the product for this when purchasing, so that they don&#8217;t buy products that give them an allergic reaction.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Cosmetics regulation on allergens<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Until now, the <a href=\"https:\/\/skinconsult.com\/en\/blog\/cosmetics-compliance-and-cosmetics-regulation\/\">Cosmetics Regulation<\/a> has included 26 allergens in Annex III.<\/p>\n<p>If their maximum concentration in a product is exceeded (&gt;0.001% in leave-on products and &gt;0.01% in rinse-off products), their presence must be stated on the ingredient list.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s a proposal from the European Commission to expand this list with another 56 allergens, bringing the total to 82. Read the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/members.wto.org\/crnattachments\/2022\/TBT\/EEC\/22_6171_01_e.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">draft of the amendment<\/a><\/strong> here.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Which allergens are involved?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Allergens are included in Annex III of the European Cosmetic Regulation.
